Knights
Greetings! Welcome to the Knights' Guild! If you are interested in becoming a knight of Imagine SIM, tarry a little longer!
The knights of Imagine SIM are respectful figures. They take on the honor as a warrior through our adjusted Code of Chivarly. They see that our pages and citizens are kept in a friendly, child-safe enviroment. And they also have the most fun in tournaments and honoring their ladies (or men - yes, there are lady knights) for the glory of it all!
Training
Well, ye didn't suspect I'd send ye into a tournament without knowing what to do! No, you must earn your way into this honor. And you must be willing. If you are not, please do not read further.
The first stage of training is a page. You learn the basic skills of fighting, etiquette, and duties you perform for the community. Knighthood is not a constant battle. You will read a set of tutorials and required to pass a certain exam. All those who do not pass are allowed to take the exam over a second time, and if by that time they still do not make it, there is little or no chance of knighthood for them, as they have been carelessly reading.
The second stage of training is becoming a squire to a knight. You will learn special techniques for fighting and observe how he acts in a community. You will follow him everyone, becoming a companion and friend, and helping him whenever he needs it. When both of ye believe you [the squire] are ready for knighthood, you must take a second exam, smaller this time, and defeat two crowned knights. The first will be the one of whom you were a squire to. If you can defeat him, or score a fair match. (For example, he wins 3, 2. If he wins 5, 0, then that would not be any sort of competition). It will be observed by a paladin to judge if you are ready. If there are already available spots for knights, (that is, if there are less than 10 for the realm you represent) then you may be knighted at the set time by the Emperor or Empress. If not, you must defeat one of the current knights for his position. Usually the person who you acted as a squire to will point out the weakest or newest one which you have the best chance at defeating. If you can defeat him, you have their spot. They are forced to re-start knighthood. If you do not, then you must re-start the process of knighthood yourself.
Well, now that ye have become a knight, you may be plenty happy to stay where you are. But some wish to achieve higher standards. They want to become a paladin. In order to become a paladin, you must do two things. Firstly, you must show that you are able to take on the job. I will need examples of your work (in HTML mostly) to prove that you can do it. If we approve, nextly, if there is already two paladins filling the positions, you will need to challenge the one of your choice. If you defeat one of us, you have the job. There may only be 1 paladin at the time, so you instantly receive the position if you convince me that you can do it.
Knighting Ceremonies
Knight ceremonies are held by the empress in the Knighting Hall on Saturday nights at 7:00 P.M. Pacific Time, and 10:00 P.M. Eastern Time. Times may be adjusted for the convience of the empress, paladin(s), and knight(s).
Tournaments
Tournaments are held whenever there is a big event going on. Sometimes they are planned at random. All will be posted under "Knightly News" at the bottom of this section, and in The Royal Register, Imagine SIM's newspaper.
Champions
Knights may champion their ladies (or men, for lady there are lady knights) when they admire and adore a certain lady of the realm. Knights who have ladies/gentlemen championed have a much greater respect and confidence than a lonely knight. It also results in a larger triumph. It could be someone you crush on, someone you are currently courting, or even married to. This does not need to be approved by the parents, though they probably will appreciate it if you do. (*helpful hint for further ~love~ transactions*) You will request of the lady, when a tournament is coming, to be her champion. If she agrees, she may give you a special av of hers, or a small symbol to attach onto your own av. During a battle, or match, you will wear this av symbol and fight in her honor. If you triumph, you present she is the fairest lady in all the world. If you fail, it may do badly for her reputation. So understand if she declines, for she may not believe in your abilities. And there is always the chance to prove her wrong and ask her again later!
